2009 Draws To A Close and Looking Forward to 2010…

So its been a while since I last posted as I have suffered a minor setback in my Internet venture, which has namely been a relocation move with my existing job. In the meantime I trust everyone had a Merry Christmas and hopefully is not still on a Turkey diet!

In a nutshell I have moved to Birmingham (from London) for a placement for approximately 18months. The benefits being that I will have a lot more time to spend on leisure and more importantly my Internet venture as I have moved away from a crowded commute on the tube to a short walk to work (which is bliss!).

The downside is that I never knew how difficult it would be, and what a lengthy process, to get the internet set up!! After getting messed around and made to wait by 2 seperate providers, which I will decline to name at this stage, I have finally gone back to BT and got the internet sorted after about 2 months!! Who would have thought it would be so difficult to connect a few wires and provide a service…..

The effect of this has meant that with relying on a desktop and without a laptop, something I have now rectified, and the work Internet bars I have been able to do very little on my internet business. However much of a setback this is it has given me the time to get properly settled and also to take stock of where I am, how far I have come and also to actually read and digest some of the numerous products that I have previously bought so I can combine the teachings with what Alex has taught me. So I will be fighting fit and raring to go for 2010….

First though I thought I would briefly recap on what I achieved in 2009:

  • Several holidays and trips – Dublin, Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Europe
  • New Job (for now!)
  • House move
  • New Business (Internet Venture)
  • New Mentor – Alex Jeffreys
  • Started a mailing list – 600 names and counting
  • Launched 8 websites including this blog
  • Earnt my first $’s online

Its only when I actually wrote it down that I have realised that all in all quite a bit has happened in my life including some significant events in this last year!!

So what does 2010 have in store……

At this stage I am drawing together my revised plans; business, entrepreneur and personal which I talked about in my early post Failing to Plan is Planning To Fail which I will publish on here in due course.

Safe to say stepping up my Internet venture will be critical for me next year as I look to replace my job income with one earned online so I can take the next step and give up working for someone else!

I hope that you will continue with me as I share my experiences both good & bad on this journey to online success and financial independence……

All that remains to say is thank you for your support and I wish you all a Happy New Year and the Best of Success for 2010!!

Tom

    Hi Tom,

Congrats on your successes so far, it sounds like 2010 is going to be a big year for you. I was considering signing up with Alex's course, however I have decided to focus on all the courses and ebooks I bought last year that I haven't read or watched yet! :(

I look forward to popping by your blog and learning from you!

Hope you had a great festive season!

See you back here soon!

    Jacinta :D

    Thanks Steven

Best wishes to you for 2010. I fully intend to step up my goals for this year as I fell behind in the new venture. However that said I certainly enjoyed some of the leisure side of things and like to maintain that balance!! Ill be publishing my plans in the next few days so check back for some possible inspiration or competitive goals….

Thanks Jacinta. Indeed the intention is that 2010 will be the big year as Ill be able to commit a full 12 months to the venture (hopefully un-interupted!).

Alex's course was great and has been really useful to learn from him, I note that you are on John Thornhill's so you have probably had a similar level of training (haven't had the chance to read all your summaries as yet but certainly will do so…) and that should be enough for now if you are swamped. Due to my recent lack of internet and spare time I've started to digest all the courses and products I've bought previously which has been useful in some cases and a waste of time in others. Always good to get additional tips & techniques to implement though!

    Hey Tom,

How are you? Funny, you were one of the first guys to contact me on the MWA 2.0 and at that time I was working in Birmingham in the week! lol

Well like you, I had a pretty eventful year last year too, what with working away and some personal issues towards the end of they year. But like you, I've not given up, I am going to keep on keeping on! I have documented my goals for 2010 for all to see :)

I still go up to Brum, so maybe we should catch up for a beer at some point when I am there, and brainstorm some ideas for possible JV's.

    Take Care Tom,

    Be in touch real soon.

    Sean

    Hi Tom,

It looks like you had a good 2009 and will have even better 2010. Moving is always a cause of some problems and at least you are now fully operational.

Going through those course materials must have been good for you.

Being able to walk to work is great. I had that luxury many years ago. It's good for the body and the time saved commuting is like getting a raise in pay.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope all is well for you. These challenges always seem to rear their head and its how we react to them which determines our successes. It would be stupid to assume that we won't face these blips along the way and its important that we oversome them and push forwards to success and our goals.

Indeed I'm finding the walk beneficial as at the very least it ensures I start the day fully awake!! Brings home the realisation of the issues a commute brings and reinforces that desire to work for onesself, just need to get to that stage now….

    Sean

Thanks for stopping by and great to hear from you again. I recall from memory that you were down in Surrey, our paths haven't yet crossed but do let me know when you're in Brum as would be good to catch up over a drink or two to discuss ideas, progress and projects.

'09 was a good year for us in that we got started on this journey with Alex and the other great people on the course and in the forum and its great to see that a few setbacks haven't deterred most and that a number of people are starting to see real tangible success and get payback for their effort now.

I've been caught up on some projects which will launch soon so haven't formalised my goals but will do so soon so I can be held accountable. Will stop by and see what you have planned and how you are getting along.

    Speak soon

    Hi Tom,
Sounds like you're off to a great start towards not working for someone else. I just did my goals last night. I need to kick it up about 100% because I don't have any subscribers yet. I decided to start back at the beginning of Alex's program and refocus. I let my day job overwhelm me for about 4 months and pretty much put everything on hold.

Good luck to 2010!!! Take care – Heidi

    Hi Tom,

I too had a busy year last year, and suffered setbacks due to the "day job"… Like you, I'm now re-focusing too… And I'm also in Brum!

I know all about commuting, my client is in London (and they have me travelling a lot too), but fortunately I do get to work from home too.

If you want to go for a beer and discuss all things MWA and Internet Marketing, let me know! (Same goes for Sean if he reads this too when he's ini Brum!).

    Iain.

    Hey Tom,

Congrats on your achievements of 2009 and all the best for 2010!!

It really is amazing how long it can take to get internet sorted in a new place…my friend is up to 7 weeks now!

I’m quite often around Birmingham so next time I’ll get in touch, would be cool to have a mini meet up with Iain and Sean.

    What do you reckon?
